“He’s got to keep things simple, just concentrate on batting” – Kumar Sangakkara chips in with word of advice for Sanju Samson ahead of Sri Lanka T20Is

Team India will lock horns with the Sri Lankan national cricket team in the three-match T20I series followed by the three-match ODI series at home. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the white-ball squads for the Sri Lanka series.

Surprisingly, Rishabh Pant was not listed in both squads whereas KL Rahul has been listed as the wicketkeeper-batsman for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. On the other hand, India’s talented cricketer, Sanju Samson finally earned a call-up to the Indian cricket team for Sri Lanka T20Is.

The right-handed batsman was not named in the three-match T20I series against the Bangladesh cricket team of late as KL Rahul was the preferred wicket-keeper batsman for the ODI series. In the absence of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul for Sri Lanka T20Is, Sanju Samson has got an opportunity to showcase his mettle and fortitude.

Former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara chips in with a word of advice for Sanju Samson

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s batting great Kumar Sangakkara who has worked with Sanju Samson at Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League has now chipped in with million-dollar advice for the Rajasthan Royals captain ahead of the Sri Lanka T20Is.

While talking to Star Sports on their show ‘A Chat with Champions’, Kumar Sangakkara echoed that Sanju Samson has a great deal of versatility to play across various batting positions but at the same time he advised him to think clearly while making big decisions.

Sangakkara further added that Samson has got to keep things simple and pretty much focus on the batting. The former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman said that the Kerala cricket team skipper has got the character, skills and temperament and added that he just needs to play his own game in the upcoming series.

Meanwhile, the first of the three-match T20I series is slated to begin on January 3 (Tuesday) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
