In fact, Rohit Sharma played his first ICC event as captain in the T20 World Cup 2022 held in Australia. Although they qualified for the semis, India ran short of ideas when they locked horns with the England cricket team in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, the richest cricket body has now shortlisted as many as 20 players for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. BCCI President Roger Binny was in charge of the Annual General Meeting that happened via video call.

The likes of Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Chetan Sharma were also present in the video call as they held a group discussion for hours. They came up with 20 players after rounds of discussion.

Apparently, the shortlisted players will be rotated in all the bilateral series will the ODI World Cup 2023, which will be held in India (October to November). Following India’s disastrous campaigns in the Asia Cup and T20 WC 2022, the BCCI is now laying a strong road map for the mega event in 2023.

Furthermore, the BCCI stated that the fitness and bone density tests will play a vital role in team selection. These tests will be mandatory for the players in order to make sure that they maintain top fitness levels.
