“Hitman started 2023 on a high” – Twitter reacts as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scores his 47th ODI fifty

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is currently involved in the first of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The ODI series opener is currently taking place at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.

Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and opted to bowl first. Team India got off to a blistering start to the game in the form of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. The duo took the Sri Lanka’s bowling attack to the cleaners by ticking the flow of runs.

In the process, the duo added a century-plus opening partnership and steered the team into the comfort zone. During the game, Rohit Sharma played some vintage shots and impressed the cricket fraternity.

The Indian skipper kick-started 2023 on a high as he smashed his 47th ODI fifty. In the previous calendar year, he missed out on scoring an international century, which happened for the first time since 2013.

However, in the fresh calendar year, Rohit Sharma stuck to his groundwork and perfectly implemented his plans properly. On the other hand, Shubman Gill is also looking pretty strong in other end as India are in the strong zone.

Rohit Sharma also went on to notch up more than 9500 runs in One-Day Internationals. He is also not far away from scoring 10,000 runs in the 50-over format. He is likely to achieve this massive landmark in the ongoing calendar year itself.
