Team India led by Rohit Sharma got off to a terrific start in the three-match ODI series as they beat the Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lankan cricket team by 67 runs and took the first lead in the series.

Sri Lankan cricket team fought really well in the run-chase but at some point, they were lacking the killer instinct to outsmart the opposition. Team India got back into the game very well by keeping the opposition batters in check.

Among the bowlers, Umran Malik once again showcased his fortitude and mettle as he accounted for three dismissals. Besides him, Mohammed Siraj also bowled incredibly well as he accounted for two dismissals, while also bowling a maiden over.

On the other hand, Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal bagged one wicket apiece. Sri Lanka put up a great fight in the chase as they ended up with 306/8 in 50 overs. Dasun Shanaka’s heroics went in vain but won the hearts of the fans for his gritty century.

Earlier, Dasun Shanaka won the toss and invited Team India to open the face of the blade first. The Men in Blue posted a staggering total of 373 for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted quota of 50 overs.

Virat Kohli notched up his 45th ODI century off 80 balls where he ended up scoring 113 runs including 12 fours and a six. On the other hand, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored 83 off 67 balls with the help of nine boundaries and 3 sixes.
