“There’ll be hunger to reach 400” – Prithvi Shaw reacts after missing out on a massive milestone in Ranji Trophy

Mumbai cricketer Prithvi Shaw made the headlines after he scored a truckload of runs against the Assam cricket team in the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament. The right-handed batsman assessed the conditions properly and then went about his business ever so well.

The Mumbai cricket team largely benefitted from his masterful innings in the first innings. Prithvi Shaw who remained unbeaten on 240 at the end of the second day’s play went on to make most of his chances count on Day 3.

The youngster went on to smash a triple century off just 326 balls at a superb strike rate. Even after reaching the big landmark, he was hungry to add more runs to his tally as he went past the 350-run mark.

The attacking opening batsman was en route to smashing 400 but was trapped for a leg-before wicket off Riyan Parag’s delivery. The youngster departed after scoring 379 runs off 383 balls. During his stay at the crease, he hammered as many as 49 boundaries and 4 sixes.

While speaking to news agency ANI, the 23-year-old has reacted after missing out on scoring 400 runs in the Ranji Trophy tournament. He further echoed that there will be a hunger to reach 400 and added that he missed out on it today.

Prithvi Shaw chipped in with the second-highest individual best score with 379 runs and is only behind BB Nimbalkar as the latter registered the personal best individual score of 443* in the Ranji Trophy. He accomplished the feat against Saurashtra in the 1948–49 season.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai cricket team declared the innings at 687/4. Apart from Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane batted really well. He missed out on scoring a double century by just nine runs as he chipped in with 191 runs including 15 fours and 2 sixes. On the other hand, the Assam cricket team scored 129/1 and are trailing by 558 runs.
