Scoring over 400 runs in an ODI very much seals the deal and ends the game right there. Unless there’s a whole road on the field (which there wasn’t) or if England is the pursuing team. Even while the eventual outcome was predictable, the meek capitulation of the Sri Lankan batsmen was surprising.

They could have put up a fight regardless of how unlikely their goal was. Siraj’s first burst with the new ball dashed whatever faint hopes the visitors may have had, and the onslaught continued unabated from there.

Karunaratne’s wicket is the only one that comes close to reflecting the current situation that Sri Lanka faced. Consider the frustration of playing a forward defence back to the bowler, only to be run out because your foot was out of the crease.

This is ridiculous on a whole other level. Although, India’s showing was really professional. Kohli and Gill’s hundreds helped put the home team in a position where they could not be caught.
