“But, to be honest that is not the key to happiness” – When Virat Kohli said that fame, success, money do not matter always in life

"But, to be honest that is not the key to happiness" - When Virat Kohli said that fame, success, money do not matter always in life

While coming of age in the era of the internet and social media, today’s young people have an unrealistic expectation that their material will be seen by as many people as possible all over the globe.

These days, young people live for the chance to shine and be noticed. Some people actively seek it out, but there’s also a sizable population that is happy with their ordinary lives and counts themselves lucky to have them.

Contrarily, wealth and success have been highly prized by humans for eons. If you say that money isn’t everything or the key to happiness, you’ll constantly be mocked by others around you.

While everyone has their own perspective on these matters, that opinion is heavily influenced by the individual’s level of power, wealth, and social standing.

It’s unusual to hear from someone who has made a lot of money, achieved a lot of fame, and otherwise dominated society about how little they think they’re worth.

What did Virat Kohli say?

Virat Kohli, former Indian captain, discussed these crucial material and immaterial aspects of human life in an interview with the RCB podcast around a year ago.

According to Kohli, he still needs to put in just as much effort as he did before he became a famous cricketer or when he had practically none of these three ‘essentials of life.

“Over a period of time you realize that you want some normalcy. So fame, success, money, all these things they look great when you don’t quite have them. But, to be honest that is not the key to happiness. I could sit here and say that I have all three, but there are moments where I’m just not happy. If I want to play I’ll have to be as committed as I was before I got success. So when you get to a certain point, you can’t just say ‘okay that’s it’, now the game should finish. No fame, money, success, can get you rid of that because you have to keep doing it everyday, otherwise you’re miserable,” Kohli exclaimed during the podcast.
