Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has spoken highly of Virat Kohli, a former Indian captain. Ponting has often praised Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, for his impressive batting and leadership.

After suffering humiliating losses in the first two tests of the series, the former Australian captain was quick to congratulate his squad for their miraculous comeback. Australia staged a remarkable comeback in the third test, keeping their series chances alive.

In order to get to the WTC Final in England, India must win the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. The fourth BGT test, featuring Rohit Sharma and company vs Australia, will be played on March 9 in Ahmedabad.

Ricky Ponting backs Virat Kohli

During the second innings, Virat Kohli came under fire from cricket experts including former Indian coach Ravi Shastri for his poor shot selection. Ricky Ponting made some comments on Virat Kohli’s lackluster performance in the series.

Ponting said: β€œFor Kohli, I have said that over and over, champion players always find a way. He might be in a bit of a drought at the moment and might be not scoring runs which we all expect him to score but he is a realist as well. When you are a batsman and you are struggling and not scoring runs, you are pretty aware of that yourself. I am not concerned about this because I am confident he will bounce back.”

Earlier in the series, during the second Test against Australia in Delhi, Virat Kohli became the quickest batsman to 25,000 international runs. Kohli became the quickest player in international cricket history to reach 25,000 runs, surpassing even the great Sachin Tendulkar. He was just the sixth batter in history to reach the 25,000-run mark, and it took him 549 innings to do it.
