Following India’s nine-wicket defeat in the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test, the pitch discussion has likely continued. The ground in Indore, India, where India and Australia played the third test, was assessed “poor” by the International Cricket Council (ICC) earlier on Friday.

Rohit Sharma, captain of the Indian team, has spoken out about his dissatisfaction with the discussions around the pitches. Rohit has said that the team would work to create surfaces that are favourable to spinners in the lead-up to the final Test.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri agreed with Rohit’s prediction that the Ahmedabad pitch will spin, but he posed the question, “How quickly?” In light of the criticism he received during the Indore Test, Shastri had doubts about the pitch’s condition for the upcoming fourth match.

What did Ravi Shastri say about the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad for the fourth test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023?

Ravi Shastri was speaking to Star Sports and compared the Narendra Modi Stadium’s wicket to the Indore pitch, which gave more than six degrees of spin as early as Day 1.

“It will turn but the question is, how quickly? How long will they keep it in the oven? They kept it a bit long for this time,” said Ravi Shastri.

Matthew Hayden, a former Australian opening batsman, has shared his thoughts on the condition of the pitch in Ahmedabad. Hayden was one of several cricketers who looked to have serious issues with the ground in Indore.

According to a representative of the state association, the Indian team’s management has not given them any concrete instructions since they are focused on the pitch in Ahmedabad.

On March 9, the fourth and final Test match of the series will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium. India kept the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after they won the first two Tests. In the meanwhile, Australia staged an impressive comeback to defeat India in the third Test. With this victory, Australia has now qualified for the WTC Final, which will take place starting on June 7.
