Aston Villa currently stands in the 11th position with 34 points in the English Premier League table. They have won 11 matches and lost 10 this season.
Leander Dendoncker joined Aston Villa from the Wolves in the last transfer window. However, he has only been good enough for their bench. Steven Gerrard signed signed the player from Wolves last summer in a deal worth £13m. He has only started five out of 25 matches this EPL season. The club might let him go for free after his 1-year contract expires this year.
Jed Steer, who has been at Aston Villa since 2013 has seen several loan spells. The 30-year-old goalkeeper is currently out with an ACL injury and hasn’t featured for Villa since September 2021. It is unlikely that his future lies with the club as Emery has a number of goalkeepers to select from. Robin Olsen is another keeper whose contract is nearing its end. Emiliano Martinez, who is the club’s first-choice keeper has his contract ending in 2027. It will be interesting to see which player they will retain as their back-up keeper.
Jaden Philogene-Bidace is currently on a loan spell at Cardiff City. He has scored 4 goals in 28 appearances for Cardiff, one of which came last week in the Championship against Bristol City. There is a chance that Villa could renew his contract and send him out on another loan spell and then take a call on whether they would want to keep him or sell him.
