“Extraordinary red ball career, average ODI career” – Twitter reacts as Ravindra Jadeja is playing his 300th international game

"Extraordinary red ball career, average ODI career" - Twitter reacts as Ravindra Jadeja is playing his 300th international game

Hardik Pandya, India’s new one-day international captain, won the toss and elected to bowl first. Although Australia was obliged to abandon David Warner and wicketkeeper Alex Carey, India has decided to play with four pacers, including Pandya.

Travis Head and Mitch Marsh are opening the innings and Josh Inglis will be the wicket-keeper. Today marks the beginning of a three-match One-Day International series between India and Australia at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. This comes after a thrilling four-match Test series, which India won 2-1 to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Ravindra Jadeja is playing his 300th international game

With the World Cup in around seven months, this series might be great preparation for these two prominent teams. Yet, there is a lot of tension. Both sides’ normal leaders will be absent for the first one-day international. While Rohit Sharma is unable to play for personal reasons, Hardik Pandya will captain India. In Australia’s case, Steve Smith will lead the team in lieu of Pat Cummins, who has returned to Sydney to attend his mother’s funeral. Ravindra Jadeja will be playing his 300th international game in the first ODI against Australia.

India (Playing XI): Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wk), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya (captain), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami

Australia (Playing XI): Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith(c), Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis(w), Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Sean Abbott, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa
