“Juicy stuff from Shami” – Twitter reacts after Mohammed Shami shifts the game for Team India against Australia in the first ODI

Team India are locking horns with the Australian cricket team in the first of the three-match ODI series at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Hardik Pandya who is leading the team in Rohit Sharma’s absence won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Australia lost Travis Head for 5 runs after he was bowled by Mohammed Siraj. The likes of Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh steadied the ship by adding 72 runs for the second wicket before Smith fell prey to Hardik Pandya’s bowling.

Mitchell Marsh was the one who dominated the proceedings by scoring runs quite confidently. Marsh was the pick of the batters for Australia as he scored a quickfire 81 off 65 balls with the help of 10 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 124.62.

Mohammed Shami shifts the game for Team India in the first ODI

While things were going in favour of Australia, Ravindra Jadeja provided a much-needed breakthrough by dismissing the prized wicket of Marsh in the fourth ball of the 20th over.

After that, the visitors ran through a batting collapse in the middle and lower middle order, courtesy of Mohammed Shami’s fiery bowling spell. The veteran pacer brought his experience to the table and shifted the game for India.

Initially, Shami dismissed Australia’s wicketkeeper-batsman, Josh Inglis for 26 runs by making a mess of his stumps. After a couple of overs, Shami went on to shatter Cameron Green’s stumps at the best scene as he departed for 12.

Shami grew from strength to strength and also dismissed Marcus Stoinis for 5 runs. Mohammed Shami has been the ultimate game-changer for India as he registered 3/17 in his quota of six overs, while also bowling 2 maiden overs.

As things stand, India are the favourites to win the first ODI and draw the first blood in the series. At the time of writing this article, Australia posted 188/9 in 35 overs.
