“From flat tracks to direct turners” – Fans react to the reports that Pakistan could play their 2023 World Cup matches in Bangladesh

"From flat tracks to direct turners" - Fans react to the reports that Pakistan could play their 2023 World Cup matches in Bangladesh

According to an ESPNCricinfo report, Pakistan’s 2023 ODI World Cup matches may be held in Bangladesh. India is hosting the major competition, but political tensions between the two nations may prevent Pakistan from participating. According to the source, there have been and are still conversations about the prospect of the same, and a hybrid model for the Asia Cup is also being considered.

Although Pakistan is hosting this year’s regional competition, India may choose to play its games elsewhere. If India and Pakistan meet in the finals, the championship game might be held anywhere other than the host nation of Pakistan.

In 2016, when India hosted the T20 World Cup, Pakistan played a group game in Kolkata for the last time in India.

According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Team may play all of their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 matches in Bangladesh

Jay Shah, chief executive officer of the Asia Cricket Council and secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, sparked fears by announcing that India will not be participating in the Asia Cup in Pakistan this year. Najam Sethi, the new chairman of the PCB, said he needed help from the other member countries in order to organize the continental event after the PCB’s leadership changed last year.

“It’s important to see how other members (of ACC) look at our stance on Asia Cup. What they think is important, but in the end we must realise how much clout the BCCI with its financial power carries in world cricket,” said Sethi at a press conference earlier this month.

It was claimed after the Asian Cricket Council conference in Dubai that India might perhaps play their Asia Cup matches in a different country than Pakistan.

At the same press conference, Sethi had also said that the Pakistan squad, should it go to India for the 50-over World Cup, will want top-notch protection for its players as well as unfettered access for its media and supporters.
