West Ham United Transfer News: Hammers have 2 replacements ready for Declan Rice

West Ham United Transfer News: West Ham sees Conor Gallagher (of Chelsea) and Kalvin Phillips (of Manchester City) as two of the best potential replacements for Declan Rice

The Evening Standard reports that Rice’s departure from the Hammers is already being planned for the end of the season.

David Moyes will know he needs to start making plans for the future of West Ham now that the highly regarded England international is entering the final two years of his contract and this summer’s transfer window is one of the last chances to secure a decent transfer fee for him.

West Ham has some huge shoes to fill once Rice leaves, but they should consider both Gallagher and Phillips as viable alternatives. Both players have been called up to the whole England squad and are familiar with the strain of representing a major club.

With their futures in doubt at their present clubs, it wouldn’t be shocking if either midfielder pushed for a transfer to West Ham in an effort to revitalize their flagging careers.

The Hammers “could find themselves in a position to replace Rice,” according to Gazzetta, who suggests they pursue Milinkovic-Savic.

The fact that the Lazio player should be cheaper today should benefit West Ham in their pursuit. No team was willing to sign him for €100 million last year, so a price cut is likely.

The Serie A club would love it if the player would sign a contract extension until the summer, but at this point, a sale seems certain. Gazzetta reports that West Ham is competing with teams like Arsenal and Newcastle United to sign Milinkovic-Savic.
