“Ash has the courage to speak his mind” – Twitter reacts as Ravi Ashwin fined 25% of his match fees for violating the IPL Code Of Conduct

The 17th match of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals had a truckload of drama at the climax. The match was well and truly a cliffhanger right up to the final delivery.

The fate of the match was decided on the last delivery as Sandeep Sharma successfully defended 5 runs. When CSK required five runs off the last ball, MS Dhoni could score one run off Sandeep Sharma.

Rajasthan Royals won the game by 3 runs and pulled off a thriller. After the game, Ravichandran Ashwin made the headlines after he was fined 25% of his match fees for violating the IPL Code Of Conduct.

Rajasthan Royals’ bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin’s opinion backfired after he publicly slammed the on-field umpires for changing the ball during the game between CSK and RR.

After the match ended, Ravi Ashwin boldly asked why the match officials changed the ball during the run-chase without the bowling side asking for it in the first place.

While speaking at the post-match presentation, Ravi Ashwin said he was quite surprised upon seeing the umpires changing the ball for Dew on their own without asking the bowling side.

Ashwin further echoed that it has never happened before in the game and which is why he said he was surprised. After his remarks, Ravi Ashwin was said to have violated Article 2.7, which prohibits cricketers from openly criticising the match officials or making an inappropriate remark about any incident happening in a game.

Rajasthan Royals have a tough game up ahead as they will take on Gujarat Titans on April 16 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 17, Monday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
