“I don’t see him staying but we will see in the summer”, Barcelona youngster tipped to leave the Spotify Camp Nou in the summer transfer window of 2023

"I don’t see him staying but we will see in the summer", Barcelona youngster tipped to leave the Spotify Camp Nou in the summer transfer window of 2023

Barcelona Transfer News: Sergino Dest, who is now on loan at AC Milan from Barcelona, is expected to be returned to the Catalan club this summer.

The Xavi Hernandez-led club approved Dest’s loan for the next season despite having plenty of other right-back alternatives. This incident exemplified the Spanish coach’s mistrust of his American international player.

Dest has played 72 times for Barca since joining the club from Ajax in October 2020. Before his deadline day loan to AC Milan was approved, he did not play a single minute for the Catalan giants this season.

Throughout this season, Xavi has played Jules Kounde, Sergi Roberto, Ronald Araujo, and Alejandro Balde there. Romano claims that Barcelona’s pursuit of a new right-back this summer would be contingent on the club’s compliance with Financial Fair Play rules.

Barca’s financial difficulties have been well reported.

Fabrizio Romano talks about Sergino Dest to Barcelona

Romano wrote about this in his CaughtOffside column: “For Sergino Dest they will look for a new solution, I don’t see him staying but we will see in the summer. The market for Barca depends on Financial Fair Play; for example, I said three weeks ago that they met with the agent of Jeremie Frimpong but now the priorities are different, the right-back is something that will be decided later in the window.”

Recent rumours linking Chelsea’s Reece James to Barcelona were debunked by an Italian journalist. Romano has also said that conversations were undertaken between the Catalan giants and Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen.

Real Madrid has also been linked to the Dutch right-back, who will enter the last two years of his contract in June. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Dest seems to have grabbed the eye of Atletico Madrid.

This season in La Liga, Barcelona has only given up nine goals in thirty games. Yesterday (April 23), in a 1-0 La Liga victory against Atletico Madrid, their defence kept yet another clean sheet.

Deportiva La Coruna (1993–94) and Atletico Madrid (2015–16) hold the record for fewest goals allowed in a La Liga season with 38 games played, with 18. If Barcelona allows no more than eight goals in their last eight league games, they will become the record holders.
