Mark Wood to miss the final stages of IPL 2023 due to personal reasons

England international Mark Wood has been a stellar performer for Lucknow Super Giants with the ball. The right-arm paceman has been doing all the tricks to get wickets in crucial phases of the game.

He is currently the sixth-leading wicket-taker in the ongoing season of the IPL. Having played four games so far, the right-arm fast bowler took as many as eleven wickets to his name, which is quite remarkable.

He has maintained the bowling average of 11.82 and has bagged one five-wicket haul to his name. He registered his IPL career-best bowling figures of 5/14 against Delhi Capitals. Lucknow Super Giants also benefitted from the bowler’s services so far this season.

Currently, the Lucknow-based franchise are third on the table with four wins and three defeats. Lucknow Super Giants will lock horns with Punjab Kings on April 28 at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

Meanwhile, in what comes as a massive blow to Lucknow Super Giants, Mark Wood is set to miss the final stages of the IPL 2023 season owing to personal reasons. As reported by ESPNCricinfo, Mark Wood will skip the last stages of this season’s IPL to attend the birth of his daughter.

As a result, the paceman is expected to fly home at some point in the coming weeks. After playing against Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings on May 1 and 3 respectively.

In Mark Wood’s absence, LSG selected the Afghan seamer Naveen-ul-Haq, who bowled good spells in his first two games.
