“Future of Indian cricket is in safe hands now” – Twitter reacts as Atharva Taide hits his maiden IPL fifty against LSG

Punjab Kings are playing against Lucknow Super Giants in the 38th match of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. Talking about the game, Punjab Kings’ captain, Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and chose to bowl first.

As it turned out, Lucknow Super Giants simply tormented the opposition bowlers like a hot knife through butter at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. In the process, they went on to post the second-highest total in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Lucknow Super Giants posted a record 257 for the loss of five wickets in their designated quota of 20 overs. Marcus Stoinis top-scored with 72 off 40 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes. Kyle Mayers scored 54 off 24 balls (7 fours and 4 sixes).

In response to LSG’s whopping target, Punjab Kings lost a couple of wickets inside the powerplay overs. Needless to say, Atharva Taide went about his business pretty well as he took the bowling attack to the cleaners.

In the process, he went on to score his maiden IPL half-century against Lucknow Super Giants. He brought up his half-century off 26 balls, in what was quite an impressive knock from the 23-year-old youngster.

He ended up scoring 66 off 36 balls with the help of eight fours and two sixes. His innings was the only positive in Punjab Kings’ run-chase. He was batting so well but was caught and bowled by Ravi Bishnoi in the last ball of the 13th over.
