Virat Kohli pens a heartfelt message to Kane Williamson after successful surgery

New Zealand international Kane Williamson was snapped up by Gujarat Titans for INR 2 crore at the IPL 2023 mini-auction held in Kochi in late December 23, 2022. Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise released the veteran cricketer from their squad.

They chose not to retain him in the auction. Kane Williamson joined the Ahmedabad-based franchise and he was expected to dictate the terms and carve out a reputation for himself this season.

However, as it turned out, he picked up an unexpected injury near the boundary rope while fielding against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 opener at the world’s largest cricket stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Kane Williamson looked in total discomfort after the awkward landing at the boundary rope. Meanwhile, the GT physio quickly attended to him to check if he was alright. Kane was taken off the field and later on, it was confirmed that he has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 season.

Kane Williamson jetted off to New Zealand for a surgery. In the latest development, Kane Williamson has successfully completed his surgery and has also started his rehabilitation at home as well.

Upon knowing this news update, former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli, who is also a friend of Kane Williamson, wished the former New Zealand captain for a speedy recovery.

Kane Williamson confirmed that he underwent a successful surgery on his official Twitter handle. He posted a picture along with the caption which reads, “Surgery done, now hanging out at my new home”. In reply, Virat Kohli tweeted, “Get well soon my brother.”

Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson play for different teams but they have a great respect for each other off the field. Meanwhile, Kohli is playing in the IPL 2023 for RCB this season. RCB are fifth on the table with 5 wins and 4 defeats.
