“I guess this was the first time any player other than KGF scored an 50 for RCB”, Fans react as Mahipal Lomror scored 54 runs off 29 balls against Delhi Capitals for Royal Challengers Bangalore

Delhi bowled well in the last two overs, but Bangalore’s score was still intimidating. The tourists got off to a flying start once again thanks to the consistent batsmanship of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, who opened the innings for RCB after winning the toss and electing to bat.

The two combined for an 82-run opening stand, which set the tone for the inning. Faf du Plessis was the first to leave, and Glenn Maxwell returned to the pavilion after the very next ball. Once Mahipal Lomror joined Virat Kohli, his free-scoring strokeplay relieved some of the load on Kohli. The youthful left-handed batsman remained strong after Virat Kohli’s exit, hitting 54 runs off 29 balls to help Bangalore reach 180.

Delhi’s bowlers, buoyed by their brilliant performance in their last match, got off to a good start in this one as well, allowing just 23 runs in the opening four overs. However, the floodgates opened for them in the Powerplay’s last two overs. They seemed to be making a comeback after taking wickets off Mitchell Marsh’s successive deliveries but were ultimately wiped out by Mahipal Lomror’s barrage. However, in the end, Delhi fought back, allowing just 15 runs in the last two overs. For Delhi, Mitchell Marsh was the best of the bowlers, taking two wickets in as many overs.
