Granada and Marseille have reached an agreement over the transfer of Colombian striker Luis Suarez to Marseille. According to a statement that was made public by the Ligue 1 club, the player has been granted authorization to go to the south of France to undertake a medical examination.
After finishing in second place in Ligue 1 during the 2021–2022 season, Marseille will have the difficult job of attempting to catch up to Paris Saint-Germain in the 2022–2023 season. Their effort to acquire Suarez, even though he is a good operator, demonstrates that they are not shopping in the same class as their financially stronger competitors from the city of Paris.
Suarez, now 24 years old, started his professional career at home in Colombia with Leones before making a temporary move to Granada B and eventually relocating to England with Watford. Although he was nominally based in London at that time, he spent each season on loan with Real Valladolid B, Gimnastic, or Real Zaragoza. He was there for three years. In the year 2020, he joined Granada.

Since then, the Colombian player, who has appeared four times for his country’s national team, has had a lot of success in Andalusia. Moreover, he has won four caps. During the club’s two-year run in La Liga, he has appeared in 73 games and provided 14 goals and five assists for the team.
However, he was unable to save the Andalusians from being demoted to the second division this season.
He was also called up to the Colombian national team in 2020 and has made four appearances for his country. However, he has not yet scored a goal for them. Before moving on to Watford, where he was never given a chance to play, he worked his way up through the ranks at Leones.
In any event, Suarez becomes the latest addition in a transfer window that is speeding up for Marseille. Suarez is the first non-defensive signing after the arrivals of Isaak Touré and Chancel Mbemba.
